If you have an interest in learning the game of Bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills, join the Lake Norman Bridge Center! All ages and levels are welcome. All classes take place at Cornelius Town Hall (21445 Catawba Avenue). Lake Norman Bridge Center meets in Community Hall for the following classes and times in March:
Mondays, 12:00pm- 3:30 pm - Bridge Lessons, "Play of the Hand" for advancing bridge students Tuesdays, 9:30 am- 1:00 pm - Non-Life Masters Bridge Game, a practice game for new players. Thursdays, 12:30 pm- 4:30 pm - Sanctioned duplicate bridge game, open to the public. March 4th - Charity Bridge Game March 11th - Regular Game March 18 - Day after St. Patrick's Day Game March 25 - Club Championship & Team Game
New Bridge Class - The Lake Norman Bridge Center is offering a new ten week series of bridge lessons on "Play of the Hand" for the advancing player. The major focus of the classes will be on playing the hand as bid but will also reviewing bidding and defense. The lessons are scheduled to start on Monday March 1st at 12:00pm. Continuing Bridge Class -"Basic Bridge Class" for new bridge players or for bridge players who want to refresh their bridge knowledge is being held each Tuesday in March and April from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. The classes still have openings for individuals who know the mechanics and have some working knowledge of bridge. The basic class is based on Audrey Grant's books for Standard American bidding and suitable for social or rubber bridge players as well as future duplicate players.
Bridge Games on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Tuesday Non-Life Master Game - A new sanctioned Non-Life Master Game has been approved by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). The game is scheduled every Tuesday at 9:30am. A sanctioned game awards Master Points which are recorded by the ACBL which is located in Memphis, TN. The ACBL has several levels of recognition for individuals as they earn points. These levels are: Junior Master, Club Master, Sectional Master, Regional Master, NABC Master and Life Master. Other achievement levels are Broze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Emerald and Platinum. Most bridge players aspire to become a Life Master which requires a total of 500 points.
Thursday Duplicate Bridge Game - The regular open sanctioned game that meets each Thursday at 12:30 pm has several new and different fun games scheduled for March. Please view the schedule above for the games each week.
